If you’re a fan of traditional flamenco and salsa music, then you have definitely heard of the legendary band, the Gipsy Kings.

On August 15th, the Catalan band and the legendary singer Nicolas Reyes will be performing live at the magnificent Pearl Concert Theater At Palms Casino, in Las Vegas. The Gipsy Kings and Nicolas Reyes will be touring the North America from August through December in 2025. A tour not to be missed! 

Supporting them on stage is the talented American folk singer and songwriter, Amber Rubarth.

Gipsy Kings & Nicolas Reyes

Gipsy Kings are a music group founded by songwriter and producers, Nicolas Reyes and Tonino Baliardo. The band was formed in 1979 in Arles, France, with Catalan, Spanish, and Southern French languages in their music. The band is known to celebrate their Spanish Romani heritage and bring rumba, salsa, and flamenco into the Western pop scene. The band was originally formed by Reyes senior, Jose Reyes, in 1970 under the name Los Reyes, which translates to “The Kings”. Upon his death, the band continued to tour France and busked in locations like Cannes as well as playing at weddings and parties alike. Having adapted the Gypsy style of traveling, the band eventually changed their name to what we know as today, Gipsy Kings, with Nicolas as lead vocalist and Tonino on lead guitar. Before their big break in 1987, the band released two albums, Allegria (1982) and Luna de Fuego (1983), which went unnoticed by many.

The big bang success for Gipsy Kings came with the release of their self-titled third album in 1987 (1989 in the United States). The album includes their all time top hits and fan favorites "Bamboléo", "Djobi Djoba", and the gentlest ballad "Un Amor". The album and the singles were in the US charts for forty weeks, one of the few Spanish albums to do so. The album became a global sensation, and the band is one of the most beloved borderless world-music groups ever. It went on to receive multiple Platinum and Gold certificates. Although they sing in Catalan, Spanish, and French, their music speaks universally. 

Since their success over 30 year ago, Gipsy Kings continued to release several more studio albums along with other notable and popular singles, "Soy", "Volare", the cover version for "Hotel California" in 1991, "Baila me", "Pida me la", and more recent hits "Ciclone" with Takagi & Ketra, Elodie and Mariah Angeliq and "Ingobernable" with C. Tangana. To date, Gipsy Kings have released 13 studio albums, 15 compilation albums and 28 singles. 

Amber Rubarth

Amber Rubarth is an American singer and songwriter from California. At a young age, Rubarth taught herself to play guitar and started performing at local cafes and open mics. One of her early original songs was awarded Grand Prize in NPR's Mountain Stage New Song contest, which led her to record an album produced by Jacquire King. As a solo artist, Rubarth has released eight studio albums and has worked with credible names such as Dave Eggar, Alex Wong, R.E.M., Paul Brill, Joe Purdy, John Prine, David Grisman, and Jerry Garcia. To date, Rubarth has released eight studio albums, with the last being Wildflowers in the Graveyard (2017).
